Gyeonggijeon Shrine

경기전

A royal shrine built in 1410 to house the portrait of King Taejo, founder of the Joseon dynasty. The bamboo grove and ancient ginkgo trees inside the grounds are among Jeonju's most iconic scenery.

Jeondong Cathedral

전동성당

A Romanesque-Byzantine cathedral completed in 1914, built on the site where Korea's first Catholic martyrs were executed. It stands directly across from Gyeonggijeon, creating a striking contrast of civilizations.

Jaman Mural Village

A hillside neighborhood overlooking Hanok Village, revitalized with colorful murals and street art. The winding alleyways offer panoramic rooftop views of the traditional tile roofs below.

Nambu Market Youth Mall

A traditional market dating back to 1905, now home to a second-floor 'Youth Mall' where young entrepreneurs serve creative fusion dishes alongside classic Jeonju street food.

Omokdae Pavilion

오목대

A hilltop pavilion where Yi Seong-gye celebrated his 1380 victory over Japanese pirates at Hwangsan, years before founding the Joseon dynasty. The elevated terrace offers a panoramic overlook of the entire Jeonju Hanok Village rooftops.

Pungnammun Gate

풍남문

The sole surviving gate of Jeonju's four original fortress gates, rebuilt in 1734 and designated Treasure No. 308. It now stands on a traffic roundabout at the southern approach to Hanok Village.

Jeonju Hyanggyo

전주향교

A Joseon-era Confucian school east of Hanok Village, known for its row of ancient ginkgo trees that create a golden canopy each autumn. The well-preserved lecture hall and shrine complex remain active educational heritage sites.

Jeonju Hanok Village

전주한옥마을

One of Korea's best-preserved traditional village districts, with over 700 hanok houses lining narrow lanes. The village is a living showcase of Joseon-era architecture, bibimbap, and hanji paper craft.

Hagindang

학인당

The oldest house in Jeonju Hanok Village, completed in 1908 in royal Joseon architectural style. Originally built for Baek Nak-jung, it was Korea's first pansori performance venue and is now a designated Jeollabuk-do cultural treasure.

Korea Expressway Corporation Arboretum

한국도로공사수목원

A public arboretum in Deokjin-gu opened in 1992 to offset environmental impact from expressway construction. Features themed gardens, greenhouse domes, and walking trails.

An acclaimed architectural complex in Wanju blending traditional hanok design with modern minimalism. Houses contemporary art exhibitions and a boutique hanok hotel surrounded by bamboo gardens.

Palbok Art Factory

팔복예술공장

A former cassette tape factory converted into a contemporary art space. The industrial architecture and open exhibition halls represent Jeonju's creative transformation beyond the Hanok Village.
