Gyeongju Weather

Gyeongju, the ancient Silla capital, has a continental climate similar to Seoul but slightly milder. Spring and autumn are ideal for exploring the outdoor UNESCO heritage sites. Summer can be hot, and winters are cold but manageable.

When to Visit Gyeongju

Spring

March - May

Cherry blossoms around Bomun Lake and the royal tombs in early April. Perfect weather for cycling between the Silla heritage sites.

Summer

June - August

Hot and humid. Visit the shaded forest temples (Bulguksa) early morning. Nearby Pohang coast offers a beach escape.

Autumn

September - November

The best season for Gyeongju. Golden ginkgo trees line the tomb paths. Comfortable weather for the full-day heritage circuit. October-November is peak.

Winter

December - February

Cold but fewer tourists. The ancient tombs look striking with frost. Indoor attractions like the National Museum are ideal. Bundle up for the outdoor sites.
