About
The settlement of Yi O (1352-1434), a late-Goryeo scholar who refused to serve the new Joseon dynasty after Goryeo fell in 1392. He built a walled village here, raised a stone marker reading 'Goryeodong-hak,' and instructed his descendants never to leave. His Jaelyeong Yi clan descendants have kept the village continuously inhabited for 19 generations over 600 years. Designated a Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Monument in 1982. The grounds are known for crape-myrtle blooms in summer.
