In the K-Heritage Channel video, Yesung of Super Junior visits Gongju, the ancient Ungjin capital of Baekje. Here is how to walk the same UNESCO heritage sites yourself, with maps and visitor info.
Released in May 2026 on KTO's K-Heritage Channel, this short film follows Yesung of Super Junior through Gongju, the city on the Geumgang River that was Ungjin, the capital of the Baekje kingdom from 475 to 538.
The video moves from the riverside walls of Gongsanseong Fortress to the Royal Tombs at Songsan-ri, where the intact Tomb of King Muryeong was found in 1971, and on to the gold crown ornaments displayed at Gongju National Museum. It closes at the Gomanaru ferry grove and the old-town Jungdong Catholic Church.
Together these stops trace one of the deepest roots of Korean culture, in the kingdom that shaped early Korean art, Buddhism, and craft.
Gongju was Ungjin, the capital of the Baekje kingdom from 475 to 538. Its Gongsanseong Fortress and the Royal Tombs at Songsan-ri are inscribed as part of the UNESCO Baekje Historic Areas, and the intact Tomb of King Muryeong was discovered there in 1971.
Take a KTX from Yongsan Station to Gongju Station on the Honam high-speed line, which takes about an hour, then a local bus or taxi into the historic center. Intercity buses also run from Seoul to Gongju.
The gold crown ornaments of King Muryeong and his queen are displayed at Gongju National Museum, near the Royal Tombs at Songsan-ri. The original tombs are sealed for preservation, but an on-site exhibition hall shows full-scale reconstructed chambers.
