About Gongju
A Chungcheongnam-do city on the Geumgang River that served as Ungjin, the capital of the Baekje kingdom from 475 to 538. Its Gongsanseong Fortress and the Royal Tombs at Songsan-ri form part of the UNESCO Baekje Historic Areas, and the 1971 discovery of the intact Tomb of King Muryeong reshaped the understanding of sixth-century Korean art and trade.
