About
Korea's oldest artificial pond, created in 634 CE by King Mu of the Baekje Kingdom south of his palace in Buyeo. According to the Samguksagi, a 7,800-meter waterway connected the pond to its water source. Each July, thousands of lotus blossoms blanket the surface during the Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival. The site is part of Seodong Park, which includes gardens, sculptures, and historical exhibits related to the Baekje Kingdom.
