The royal birthday banquet and Nakhwanori fire ceremony
Episode 1 opens at the king's birthday banquet, where the climax is a Nakhwanori (落火) display: hundreds of charcoal-and-mulberry-paper torches strung above a pond ignite at dusk and rain sparks into the water. The scene was filmed at Mujinjeong Pavilion in Haman, the original 16th-century home of the tradition, which still performs the ceremony every May.
